Finance Yorkshire all set for debut

The South Yorkshire Investment Fund is to be wound down after a long and noble history, and replaced by its bigger and better cousin.

Finance Yorkshire, a £90 million initiative backed by regional development agency Yorkshire Forward, the European Regional Development Fund and the European Investment Bank, will take over the programme's operations as part of the former Objective 1 regeneration programme.

The new fund, chaired by Master Cutler James Newman, will also take on the work of Partnership Investment Finance, which itself invested around £37 million across Yorkshire and the Humber.

James Newman said: "The launch of Finance Yorkshire is great news for South Yorkshire. It will breathe new life into businesses across the region by offering them the means to expand, increase turnover and take on new staff."

The programme will invest £40 million in South Yorkshire companies.
