Three marketing experts from Yorkshire have pooled their skills in a bid to help people over the age of 50 save cash during the economic downturn.
Peter Simpson, former commercial director at First Direct; Glenn Patterson, managing director of Intermarketing Group; and Jason Madeley, managing director of Leeds-based Hatch Communications, are the team behind OscarUK.co.uk, a new website that offers thousands of concessions, benefits, savings and opportunities to those aged over 50.
The one-stop-shop for savings also offers practical information, as well as opinion polls and a section dedicated to fun.
Mr Simpson, chairman of OscarUK's parent company Senior Concessions, said that £26 billion a year could be saved by over-50s in the UK through the use of the site.
He explained: "Every 40 seconds another person in the UK turns 50. In the current economic conditions, it is often the over-50s that are hit hardest by falling interest rates and stock market threats to pensions.
"We saw a gap in the market to bring together offers for the over 50s and this is the right moment to make these discounts available to as wide an audience as possible."
The site, run and supported by Intermarketing and Hatch Communications, aims to increase the number of offers and members over the next year while supporting the over-50s on a range of issues.
