West Yorkshire gets medical centre

West Yorkshire now has a new state-of-the-art medical centre to bring about significant improvement in locally available health services.
The £3 million facility in Ripponden will house six local GPs and replaces the existing Brig Royd practice.
It has nine consulting and training rooms, four nurse consulting rooms and two treatment rooms. One of the treatment rooms can be also used for minor operations.
The centre was built by Halifax-based construction company Southdale and Leeds-based developer Apollo Medical.
There are many eco-friendly design features in the building including an air source heat pump that works within the under-floor heating to help save energy and reduce the centre's carbon footprint.
An automated building control system restricts the heating and lighting and ensures minimum consumption of energy.
Paul Moore, managing director for Southdale, said: "This new Primary Care Centre further demonstrates our ambitious plans to expand into new product areas, including schools, extra care facilities, healthcare, community centres and other public buildings.
"Although we have more than 20 years experience in building social housing, we feel that our trusted reputation and technical expertise, makes us well-placed to deliver ambitious schemes which benefit the whole community."
